When you receive a ball screw a machine that includes a ball screw assembly like Agricultural Machines is helpful to know the most beneficial treatment of your apparatus. A ball screw contains a variety of parts, along with the ball screw nut, the ball bearings, the screw and the recirculation apparatus. Every item mentioned must be cared for appropriately, so as to prolong the durability of your ball screw.
Maybe the primary feature of ball screw maintenance is appropriate lubricant. Utilising proper levels of lubricant creates a system in which the ball bearings and other components move with little friction against each other. This lowers friction levels, ensuring your ball screw assembly is more efficient and increasing its lifespan. Tests have shown that ball screws that function lacking lubrication a shortening of the lifespan that is up to eighty-five percent. An additional benefit to incorporating lubricants creates a waterproof film over the metal, shielding against corrosion. The two most common lubricants added to ball screws and mainly in the ball screw nut mechanism are oil and grease. However it is bad practise to utilise grease in a ball screw assembly that functions at high speeds, or applied to a ball screw assembly which must function at relatively cool temperatures. A further warning is that you avoid using a grease that contains minute solid components, and you should also avoid graphite grease. A lubricant that is essentially a solid suspension may obstruct the ball screw assembly, preventing the ball bearings from moving freely.
It is critical that the ball screw assembly be sealed against dirt. All particles or dirt will cause complications for the operation of the ball screw. It is important that you do not use too much oil. Excessive use of oil can clog the ball screw nut, sticking the ball bearings and choking the threads.
